Why I Built My Butler AL — And Why It's Not AI

When I tell people the name of my new platform — My Butler AL — the most common reflex is to spell it back to me with the wrong letters. AL becomes A.I., the Alfred reference disappears, and a deliberate naming choice gets folded into the loudest tech narrative of the decade.

I want to set the record straight. AL is a name, not an acronym. The platform draws on a much older idea than the current wave of artificial intelligence: the idea that great service is personal, attentive, and quietly competent. The kind of service Alfred provided in the background of every Wayne household scene — present, prepared, never the protagonist.

The thesis behind the platform

My Butler AL is a lifestyle and social technology platform built on three pillars: user-based content curation, decentralized data ownership, and immersive visual experiences. Each pillar is a direct response to the failure modes of the platforms we grew up on.

What service-first technology looks like

Service-first technology starts with a different question. Instead of 'what can the model do for the user,' we asked 'what does this person need from us, right now, that they shouldn't have to ask for.' That reframing changes the product surface in ways that are subtle but cumulative.

It is also why I, a healthcare operator, am building it. Healthcare — at its best — is the original service-first industry. You learn to anticipate. You learn to remove friction before the patient feels it. You learn that the most valuable thing you can offer is someone else's reduced effort. Software, almost universally, has forgotten this.
